19.11.2019

(Saju Nair - Dubai) The cartoon Art Gallery in Dubai is all set to stage the Fifth National Watercolor Exhibition on 23rd November 2019 at their own premise in Al Quoz, Dubai.

With a mission to bring all those talented artists under one umbrella and to provide opportunities to showcase their talents, it was necessary to have a platform managed by professional artists and this requirement has prompted Ms. Mrinmay Sebastian to take the lead in establishing a society dedicated for watercolor artists. International Watercolor Society (IWS) was founded in 2012 by a renowned Artist Atanur Dogan and currently IWS has around 90 branches globally, each of the branches managed by amazingly talented artists in respective countries.

Getting inspired by the working modalities of IWS, Ms. Mrinmay Sebastian an artist by herself decided to initiate discussion to establish a branch of IWS in The United Arab Emirates. Commitment, dedication and Determination of Ms. Mrinmay followed by Constructive discussions with the President and Founder of International Watercolor Society Mr. Atanur Dogan paved way to success as The UAE chapter of IWS was formed which was formally opened by the IWS president himself on 31st Oct 2015 appointing Ms. Mrinmay C Sebastian as the Country Head.

IWS UAE gifted an International platform to the Watercolor Artists of UAE by hosting the 1st Watercolor Festival of UAE and also ensured their participation in numerous International festivals across the globe. In order to identify new talents from The United Arab Emirates and to nurture them and to enhance their passion, number of activities were initiated by IWS UAE. Workshops, Plein Air Sessions and Exhibitions hosted by IWS UAE has gained international acceptance in a short span of time, thus The IWS UAE Chapter emerge as an inevitable platform for the artists.

Gaining popularity of IWS UAE was justified as many artists from this great nation join hands forming a larger group thus two more fabulous artists Ms. Divya Suratkal and Ms. Gwyneth Rasqinha were given responsibility for coordinating activities in Dubai and Sharjah respectively.

To commemorate its 4th Year of establishment, IWS UAE will be holding a National Watercolor Exhibition on 23rd Nov 2019 at Cartoon Art Gallery, the headquarters for IWS UAE where striking creations of astounding artists shall be displayed at the beautiful ambience of CAG. In order to ensure proper attention to each artist the participation is segregated into two age groups which is 17 years and below and 18 years and above.

Since its inception IWS UAE has been successful in promoting watercolor medium and spreading awareness on the joy in working with watercolor giving immense freedom to artist to express their imaginations and emotions. The UAE Team has held several contests in the past to propagate the medium which has been widely appreciated and accepted by the art fraternity. Taking an extra mile to promote watercolor the members of IWS UAE chapter have held demonstrations and exhibitions in schools and Universities to promote the art of watercolor.

This exhibition is expected to witness 100 artworks of extremely talented artists as IWS celebrate the 5th national watercolor exhibition which shall be inaugurated by Mr Yasser Al Gergawi, Director for Programs and Partnership for the Ministry of Tolerance, Chairman of National Theater Dubai in the presence of world renowned Emirati Artist Mr. Abdul Qader Al Rais along with various inspiring guests from different walk of life.
