“LET ME BREATHE” – A CRY FROM MOTHER NATURE
(Saju Nair - Dubai) World Environment Day [WED] was established by the UN General Assembly in 1972 on the first day of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment, resulting from discussions on the integration of human interactions and the environment. Two years later, in 1974 the first WED was held with the theme "Only One Earth".
Protecting the environment needs immediate attention as every growing day, there are actions that take place all across the world that brutally harm nature and majority of such actions are in the name of development or for the sole purpose of quenching our thirst for luxury. We, as humans, are under the illusion that these multistorey buildings we construct in every patch of land will protect us from disasters, but that is not the case. The only true protection we can get from natural disasters is seeking forgiveness from its source. We have laid waste to fertile lands, clear waters and fresh air, and as a result they have become toxic lands, contaminated waters and polluted air. Natural disasters are nature's way of cleansing her lands. We must be symbiotic with nature and not parasitic. We must learn to live in harmony with nature as she gifts the lands we live on, the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat. Without her, we will cease to exist. Off late we have seen that the discussions and debates regarding environment and its protection is limited to a day in a society even though there are NGO's across the globe fighting against many challenges to have a clean and safer environment. TV2 salutes all those warriors who is engaged in protecting and nurturing a safer environment for the generations to come.
The world has come to a standstill when an unknown enemy of humanity took the entire world off guard. Even powerful countries in the world is still deputing all their resources to eliminate COVID19. Various stimulus packages have been announced and introduced by many nations to protect their citizens and to revive the economic which has effected due to this Pandemic.
For a while, the entire world has shrunk to a level where no one expected it would shrink to. Who is benefited by this? Was this revenge or was it an eye opener?

Gallery also conducted zoom meeting involving artists and nature activists opening up the topic of environment. As media, I also had the privilege to participate in this video conference. While the virtual exhibition maintains highest standard, zoom meeting turned to be even more interesting and interacting as each artist turned vocal on their experience with nature, the creations that inspired them and their concern for the future. The topics discussed in this video conference carried significant importance and it was indeed a great experience to listen to passionate speeches from people who are fighting for nature's and our survival. The fire and love for nature was quite audible from the youngest participant, Varsha Nair (16years), she vocalized her opinions and her thoughts which deeply moved the listeners. It was a moment of realization on the importance of nature and the love and care majority of us have. I am sure the voice of this day will surely rise high and that will lead to the support of various campaigns conducted worldwide to preserve Mother Nature.
