Artists who gave life to their imaginations on Ramadan in a 3 hour long live painting were Adelina Maria Baldivin, Barathi Mehansi, Bose Krishna, Emma Skinner, Jenetta Susan Jacob, Jyoti Sethi, Jaspreet Kaur, Khyati Oza, Midhun Mohan, Margarita Kunizheva, Mark Daulat, Mankush Srivastava, Shobha Iyer, Shehanas C.K, Sonal Purohit, Varsha Saju Nair, Yasmin Naeem, Yoshita Ahmed & Zumrud Sadikhova.
Participation of budding artists Jenetta (10 years),
Adelina (11 Years) & Varsha (14Years) were widely appreciated and drew the
eyes of many onlookers and these young minds also found time to interact with
the visitors, answering to their queries and of course to also accept their
greetings and best wishes
All the artworks that were brought to life during this momentous event had a common element of Ramadan but a wide range of ideas reflected and amazed the vast exhilarated crowd present at the mall. The holy worship place - Mecca, was portrayed by multiple artists in different styles, while traditional gatherings, stunning views of mosques, postures of Dervish dancers were artistically portrayed with varying shades and tones by dexterous artists.
The different artworks were analyzed and judged by Mr. Khalil Abdul Wahid - Director of Fine Art Department, Dubai culture & Mr. Faisal Abdulqader - Eminent Emirati artist and Art Expert.
Artworks were judged based on Interpretation and clarity, Creativity and originality, Quality of artistic composition and overall design & impression based on the depicted theme. By taking the above criteria into consideration, 7 artworks were shortlisted and 4 of them were finally selected and declared winners. The astonishing works of Midhun Mohan & Emma Skinner secured First & Second place respectively while third place was shared between Yasmin Naeem and Mark Daulat. Winners were honored by chief guest and panel of judges in the presence of special invitees Mr. Ahmed Rukni - Eminent Emirati Artist and Mr. Peter Gressman - Founder of Artforumuae. The winners of the online art competition were also felicitated at the final lap of this event.
Mr. Khalil Abdul Wahid, who was the chief guest of the event and a strong ambassador of art in UAE, ensured that every individual artist present at the venue received his earnest attention and spent a considerable amount of time to discern the story behind each fabulous creation during his art tour and he says "I am happy to see this kind of competition that celebrates Ramadan and Eid with different nationalities that live in the UAE. This competition is in line with the year of tolerance and it shows how different nationalities from different backgrounds live and celebrate together. It was lovely to see how other nationalities accept Eid and the soul of Ramadan"
Mr. Ahmed Rukni, who was a special invitee for this event says "I am really honored by the invitation from ART4You gallery and it's indeed a great experience to be here and to meet these artists and to know more about their styles and techniques. It's not that easy to perform live as the artist needs to have clear focus and attention towards their work while having dozens of eyes trained on you. I recollect my first live painting years back and being the shy person I was at those times, couldn't complete the artwork within the stipulated time, but those experiences have boosted my confidence in focusing more on my work and now I have participated in numerous live paintings out of which the most recent was on UAE National day @ the deck of the luxurious cruise Queen Elizabeth 2 which is now docked permanently at the Mina Rashid marina. It was really great to see three young artists, Jenetta, Adelina and Varsha performing live at this age along with senior artists and I am sure that these experiences will surely enhance their creative abilities"
"Painting can be an experience that everyone can enjoy, including guests at your event. Artists were able to provide a truly one-of-a-kind piece of work. Art is more than a brush stroke. It's an experience, a conversation, a memory, a statement, an expression. Here, the UAE-based artists hail from various international backgrounds and unique creative styles had produced innovative art, themed on Ramadan and Eid during this Live Art Painting. It was an interactive afternoon of art and exchange about the art of painting and the artistic process of live art artists.", says Jesno Jackson - The Curator & Founder of Art4you Gallery.
Mr. Peter Gressman founder of artforumuae and a well-known personality in the art fraternity says "Is it possible to create under time pressure and many spectators a work of art? Yes, it is! The 19 artists of the Live Paintings in the Outlet Mall in Dubai proved that, even if the topic of Ramadan is not common to every artist, every single one has tried to implement it. But this is exactly the freedom in the art to interpolate a theme as the artist sees and explains for himself that the winner of the competition Midhun PM, ranked first, does not come from approximately. The fact was that he created a work of art from 3 of his self-made photos that show more of the variety in the UAE. but quite motives from the time "Ramadan" can be. In addition, the artist has brought the work technically in only three hours nearly perfect on the canvas"
It was really intriguing and truly amazing to see splendid artworks created within just 180 minutes from the hearts of passionate artists in front of hundreds of art lovers and shoppers which was indeed a visual treat and was overwhelmingly appreciated by a large crowd gathered at the venue.
We at Televisionario2 are really humbled to be a part of this show and we tender our best wishes to all participated artists and the curators.
