The Cartoon Art Gallery is one of those galleries which has their own gallery space to organize exhibitions, workshops, art gatherings and also to hold solo exhibitions in addition to various group events. Bedizened with two stories, CAG is precisely delineated to be a perfect place and an apt venue for artists and curators to come together and commemorate art. With a beautiful high ceiling and an adroitly illuminated setting, the gallery has the sufficient requirements to display huge artworks with precision and elegance which is one of the best features possessed by this gallery. In addition to a perfect venue, there is a large parking space in front of the gallery which provides comfortable access for the visitors to the gallery. Over the period of time, CAG became widely accepted and appreciated and came to be a lucky place for many artists as those who have started their artistic careers here, have gained insurmountable success.
The gallery manager Mrinmay Sebastian, who is also the Country Head of IWS UAE, is a fabulous artist by herself in addition to a professional curator whose exhibitions are widely applauded by the art fraternity. CAG has always sincerely supported and given importance to social causes by holding various events to financially assist disaster victims of affected regions such as the flood case of India which has been appreciated by citizens globally. Well-known artists across the globe has graced CAG by organizing workshops and giving aspiring artist in The United Arab Emirates an opportunity to experience the skills and techniques of masters.
"Interpretations" is the latest addition to
the list of successful exhibitions hosted by CAG. The curator kept no
restrictions when it came to medium giving the artists complete freedom to
paint their imaginations as they wish and this has produced some magnificent
creations, be it the beauty of acrylic, the shimmer of oil, the darkest
charcoal or the glossy works of resin.
It was indeed a moment of exploration when the artists explained their stories behind each of their creation where the vast subjects in our daily life were highlighted. The calmness of mother nature, the drastic effects of climate change, a stunning Ariel view of the ocean in its abstract glory, a point to point tactically created story of the world's best comedian, Charlie Chaplin, human emotions poured on a sheet with charcoal, mixed creations contemplating the various emotions with the touch of love - were all the inspiring subjects chosen by the artists which has undoubtedly enhanced the quality of art works which also justifies the call for abstract creations. Art enthusiasts who have visited the evening where surprised by the amazing organizing capabilities of the curator Mrinmay Sebastian and the magical creations of all the splendid artists displayed.
In the midst of the art enthusiasts and artist "Interpretations" was inaugurated by Mr. Yasser AlGargawi, Director of Programs and Partnership - Ministry of Tolerance, Chairman of Dubai National Theatre, he also plays a vital role in creating awareness on Tolerance through various inspiring initiatives across the country. His amazing leadership quality has enlightened the art field and inspired to organize more events on Tolerance keeping art as main focus. As we believe art is the best medium to communicate to the mass audience of different nationalities available in The United Arab Emirates the opportunity was utilized in the best way by the art fraternity wherein contribution of Mr. Yasser AlGargawi is highly appreciated. Being an admiring leader, the presence of Mr. Yasser AlGargawi was indeed a blessing and has really enhanced the charm of this gathering manifold. After a detailed analysis of all the artworks explained by the respective artist, Mr. Yasser AlGargawi says "Exhibition was truly magnificent and what was more inspiring was the story behind each creation. The immense collection of art works displayed has really surprised me and felt very happy that we host these many splendid artist in this country. My heartiest congratulations to Mrinmay and The Cartoon Art gallery for hosting a great event like this and best wishes to all participating artists as they have really showcased their beautiful creations and indeed was very pleasing to experience their positive energy while narrating their creations during art tour."
The charm of this evening multiplied by the presence of the leading south Indian actress Divya Pillai. Having featured in various movies, her presence has really enhanced the evening to one of the most memorable event to cherish. Her participation during the art tour established her interest, knowledge and curiosity to know more about art as well. Her interest to experience every displayed creation and to learn the story behind each and every work from the artist themselves revealed a mesmerizing and curious persona and became a joyous experience for all those present in CAG. She was really fascinated with the magnificent creations and didn't shy away from expressing interest in attending more of such gathering in The Cartoon Art Gallery.
The event was also graced by Mr. Peter Gressman an Art critic / Art Historian/ Curator & founder of artforumuae and moreover an inevitable presence in all major art gatherings in The United Arab Emirates. Being abstract creations an interesting subject of discussion for Mr. Peter all participating artist were keen to explain their works and to seek advice from him. Unconditional support of Mr. Peter to the art community has been widely acknowledged across the region. Mr. Peter shared his experience and says "It honors me that I was again asked to make a statement about an exhibition. It's about the exhibition "Interpretations" - Edition 1 in The Cartoon Art Gallery in Dubai. And as always, it is difficult to put an honest opinion into words. On the one hand, we find in this exhibition outstanding talents like for example Varsha Nair, whom I am allowed to accompany since her twelfth year of life and already realized then, here is a big talent that must be steered in the right direction. This recognized also her art teacher Jesno Rengi as well as the parents Saju and Shyma Nair. With the growing up of the young artist in the last 3 years, I was able to observe how Varsha slowly but surely found her own way and grew up to be a self-confident young lady and serious artist. Sure, it will take a while for Varsha to use her God's full-fledged talent, but she's on the right path. The artist Nafisa Ali Sayed has come to my attention in this exhibition. Nafisa has a degree in art and, as she says herself, initially painted according to the guidelines of an art university, but the heart was not right in the thing! Only when she listened to her heart and paints what moves her does the true artist emerge in her abstract landscapes. Also, some representatives of the decorative art supplied quite interesting works for the exhibition. But unfortunately, artists have crept into this exhibition again, who consider art as a hobby and should leave it at that!"
The efforts put forth by the curator Mrinmay Sebastian has beenunanimously praised by the art fraternity as she has successfully gifted yet another magical evening to the art world where vibrant colors met the canvas with distinguished techniques to produce some impressive creations. Much satisfied curator Mrinmay Sebastian says "Through this exhibition I was able to identify many hidden treasures in the art world. I never knew that abstract will so very interesting and the collection what we have seen here are truly fantastic which has really gained much appreciations from the visitors and the invited dignitaries. We have always ensured that new artists are given enough preference in all our exhibitions as our mission is to really provide platform to those news faces giving an opportunity to the community to experience their works and for them to get appreciated. Success of first edition of "Interpretations" is really encouraging for us to host the second edition by 10th December. On behalf of CAG, I really thank all the artist and visitors who has graced the evening and to all our well-wishers in social media for their amazing support as always."
Televisionario2 congratulates the curator and the gallery for a successful evening where all creative minds actively communicated to the art enthusiasts through their imaginations which were brought to being by their sheer talent and passion. The art community eagerly awaits new announcement from CAG to be a part of the event and we at Televisonario2 extends all our support and best wishes for the upcoming events by The Cartoon Art Gallery.
